you mean 7... Nge7 and not the illegal move of 7... Nce7 here. Anyway - I choose as my reply: the tricky counter *I honestly didn't see 7... Nge7 - and it took me by suprise... I had to think about this one alot actually before I came up with: 8. Ne5! I think this is perhaps is winning for me, but I am not sure - as it is soo hard to tell what is going to happen in a game like this. I didn't see any better moves for you really - the best thing I could find was 7... exf3 8. dcx6 Bc8 * something along these lines, but too late now! anyway: it was an odd move: 7. d5? and now my reply of 8. Ne5 seems nice to me.

I really felt the pressure of 7... Nge7 there - so I had to push the pieces around on the board some until I found something that seemed not really bad. Dang near everything I could find was HORRIBLE until I found 8. Ne5! - so I had to play it... for lack of anything otherwise that is even remotely decent. If there is a way to get rid of my threat here: it would be soooo awsome to see. Anyway - good luck.

Wow, killer move! Spent probably an hour at least looking at it. I decided it is probably best to re-take with exd5. I went over some wacky lines man! But aways, exd5 is my move.

I had to reconsider the lines again here as most seem to give you a leading edge! Wow - it was hard to find the right way to go about this. Anyway - I came up with: 9. cxd5

Sorry that it has taken me so long to make the next move. I have been busy with school. Anyways, I didn't get too good of a look at the lines but it seems retaking with Nxd5 seems to be my best bet. So that is my move.

At least that is how it looks... I don't see any ways out yet, but I might if I keep looking.

There are some ways out I think. I need to go over them more before I make a move but I don't think you have me yet hehe.

Well, after looking it over and over I believe you are going to win this. You can thank my ignorance of the openning for that lol. My move is Qd7 though.

Here is the PGN with my analysis of the moves played so far:

1. d4 d5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. c4 e6 4. Nc3 b6 (4. ... Bb4 {I think I mentioned here that this move seemed strong. I think this, Nf3 or dxc4 would all have been better options.} ) 5. Qa4 {I'm not too sure of this move. It seems playable. Perhaps better choices were the developing moves of e3, Bd2 or Bf4. The option of cxd5 seems okay as well. My plan was to try to put pressure on the weakened white squares of the queenside, then perhaps after cxd5: following the pressure with a queenside minority attack.} Bb7 6. e4 dxe4 7. d5 (7. Nxe4 {I think this was the move that was correct... because if: 7. d5 then 7... exf3 8. dxc6 Bc8 * leaves me awkward.} ) Ne7 {I think that this was the losing move. It did seem to limit my options to only one move to save my knight and continue pressure on c6: 8. Ne5!} (7. ... exf3 {This might have been the better choice here...} 8. dxc6 Bc8 {Now I am in an awkward position: do I recapture the pawn to even material and ruin my kingside? And what becomes of the c-pawn here?} 9. g3 {Perhaps this is my best option.} ) 8. Ne5 exd5 {Not much better to do at this point.} (8. ... Qd6 {Holds it for another move...} 9. Bf4 {And c6 falls.} O-O-O {This move unpins the knight, but it is far too late because the knight is still attacked by a pawn. 10. Nxf7 doesn't seem reasonable because Black gains the bishop and the Black knight is trapped - soon to be attacked, as well as Black gaining clear control over the d-file by overpowering d5.} 10. dxc6 Bxc6 11. Nxc6 Qxc6 12. Qxc6 Nxc6 13. Nxe4 ) 9. cxd5 Nxd5 10. Nxc6 {The pressure to c6 paid off.} Qd7 {This is the move that seemed most likely to regain the lost piece. I will end commenting here as this is where we left off.} *

My move is 11. Qxe4+

My move is Ne7, might not be the best possible here but I think it is the most interesting.

I checked about every variation except for Ne7, so I had to think about it for awhile. 12. Ne5 is my move.

Looks like my only option is to take with bxe4 so that is my move. Looks like you have won. Nice job!

13. Nxd7

We don't need to play any further if you don't want to. It's up to you. I think it was that the Chigorin tends to disallow c5 which may weaken the queenside play for Black combined with the further weakening of the queenside's white squares with the fianchetto that allowed the pressure on c6 to build. If I had played the better move of Nxe4 rather than d5 - White would have a better overall position, but the game could have easily gone either way. With d5 - I allowed exf3 dxc6 Bc8 combination which leaves me in a very awkward position, with weakened structure and unsound development. I think my only choice there would have been gxf3 which would really create alot of weaknesses, or I would be a pawn behind in a bad position. I would like to see how the lines continue with Nxe4 rather than d5. Once you give the word that the game is over - I think I will do some analysis with an engine. I really enjoyed seeing how much higher a level play is derived from correspondence style Chess. Hope we get another one in soon. I get Black next time!

I guess we can stop. There is always a chance for a come back but I won't pursue it. Good game. And yes I definitly want a rematch hehe. (Black resigns).
