You did a great job on our first game! Now I am hoping it is my turn hehe. My first move is 1. e4.

1. e4 makes me want to play sicilian out of habbit, but I want to try a line I know less about to learn from... I like the e4 e5 sharp lines, but I think I want to try the caro-kann because I don't know it at all really... so my move is 1... c6

Good luck in game. Smile

I've decided on 2... d5. I hope I am choosing wisely - it seems I may get behind in development for a chance at having a better long-term pawn structure. Not sure how this one will pan out, but I am hoping for the best.

2. d5 is the right move. My move is 3. e5.

It seems like I have alot of options, but they really tend to matter in the long-term and I wish I knew the best lines, but I guess I learn something here. I am going to play what seems strange to me, but I don't see any danger from it as long as I play carefully. 3... g6 is my move.

4. Nf3 is my move. I don't quite know the lines either. I was considering f4 but I think it would cause some long term weaknesses.

4... Bg7 here I suppose. It is going to be an awkward position for me, but I don't see anything too bad. I guess we are likely to get a better idea of the weaknesses of the line soon (which I hope are minimal - or non existant.) lol

Your development is a little slow, but I don't think it will be a problem for you because I don't see an attack yet. 5. Bf5 is my move.

Do you mean Bg5? or Bf4? I will not make my move yet... Wouldn't be valid I think - I don't see a Bf5 move. Very Happy

Oops, lol. I need to go back to kindergarten and learn my letters and numbers lol. Yeah Bf4 is my move not Bf5. Sorry about that.

I am going to play 6... fxe5 with hopes to develop a decent point of later pressure to build. I am going to try to take advantage later of the inability of White's f-pawn being able to move. I am not sure if it has any substancial benefit for me, but at least now I have enough developmental opening moves in to have created somewhat of a plan for myself. This caro-kann stuff seems tricky. Very Happy

Yeah, the carro can be confusing, that is why I stopped playing it actually. I will retake with dxe5. You may be able to get enough pressur on it later for a nice attack.
